Floor Preparation

    • Subfloor Inspection: This is generally done during the initial site visit whenever possible. Any required work is discussed in detail, explaining our recommendations and why they are necessary.
    • Self-Leveling: The floor is primed with a suitable primer before mixing and applying a self-levelling compound, forming a solid, level base for the new floor.
    • Ply: Some timber subfloors require a specialist ply to be fixed, enhancing the structural integrity and providing a level base for the timber floor.
    • Damp Proof Membrane (DPM): Older properties without a DPM installed below the screed often need one. During the initial site visit, we use a moisture meter to determine if a DPM is required. Most modern systems use a one-component liquid that is easily rolled onto the subfloor, applying two coats.
